Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam values its relationship with Ireland, emphasizing that the opening of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ireland demonstrates a commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in the future. She also proposed that both sides increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially in 2026, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Proposing further cooperation, Deputy Foreign Minister Thu Hang highlighted priority areas such as renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, science and technology, innovation, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and strategic infrastructure (aviation, seaports). She encouraged Ireland to boost imports of high-quality Vietnamese agricultural products and urged Ireland to promptly ratify the EVIPA investment protection agreement and support Vietnam's efforts to lift the European Commission's “yellow card” on IUU fishing.
Regarding educational cooperation, Deputy Minister Thu Hang praised the achievements within the Strategic Partnership in higher education, thanked Ireland for providing scholarships to Vietnamese students, and suggested expanding direct cooperation between universities and research institutes of both countries.
Expressing delight at the progress in bilateral relations, Ambassador Ní Fhallúin agreed with Deputy Minister Thu Hang's proposal to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level ones. She emphasized close coordination in organizing activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Ireland diplomatic relations in 2026 and shared that the Irish Embassy in Vietnam is planning to host several impressive cultural and artistic events on this occasion.
Ambassador Ní Fhallúin highlighted that the increasing number of Vietnamese students studying in Ireland will serve as an important bridge to foster the friendship between the two countries.
Both sides appreciated the trade exchange results between Vietnam and Ireland, reaching 4.7 billion USD in 2024. They agreed to further facilitate travel for citizens of both countries to enhance exchanges, understanding, and employment opportunities.
On this occasion, both parties agreed to continue close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations.
